Protein-Packed Pitta Bread Recipe with 3 Simple Ingredients
Yep, just 3 ingredients. And completely carb free. Doesn't look it though eh?
I used to love pitta bread and humus 🤤 . If we aren't moving much, a lot of bread and chickpea-based dips like humus, all add to your daily carbohydrate load. Essentially a load that hits your bloodstream similarly to sugar.
Many people these days also have adverse reactions to gluten, grains and even some pulses that sit heavily in your stomach and can make you feel lethargic.
As I've previously mentioned a lot of my clients also struggle with protein intake when we start.
Bread and grain-based dishes are the norm and they often don't want to psychologically cut them out.
So, this is a protein-packed alternative, based on my 3 ingredient paleo pizza base recipe.
It is keto-friendly, packed full of protein, paleo, gluten-free and as I mentioned... carb free if that is your goal 💁🏼♀️
The Ingredients:
400g Chicken Mince
4 Eggs (or Egg Whites from the pack also work)
100g Of Cheese (your choice here... Parmesan works well for browning in the oven and mozzarella works well to give you a lighter softer texture)
Note: this recipe makes a lot!
Method:
Combine all the ingredients in a blender/ NutriBullet
Add flavours like garlic, herbs and spices if you like or leave plain
Spread thinly (around 1cm thick) onto baking paper, into a round shape to cut slices like you can see here.
Bake in the oven as hot as it will go (I use around 250 degrees Celsius) until the edges or top begin to brown
Remove and leave to cool
Serving Suggestions:
Sliced up with your favourite dip 🍅
Add to a platter board 🧀
Microwave a slice with butter 🧈
The chicken mince actually creates a relatively dry texture (similar to that of pitta bread), so adding butter or dipping is definitely advised 😉
Enjoy guys!
Send me a photo if you give it a go.
